Throwback Thursday Tunes – 10 hit songs from 1996

I just recently stumbled upon this site called The Nostalgia Machine, where you can pick a year from your childhood (or whenever), and it will come up with a whole bunch of videos for the popular songs from that year.

I picked a year at random and ended up with 1996. Instantly, I’m transported back to my high school days… yes, I was in high school in 1996, and all the memories of what I was doing when I was listening to these songs came rushing back!

So many great songs in that year, but I’m going to feature just 10 of them. Oh, how to choose?!

1. I Love You Always Forever by Donna Lewis
Oh, I remember those days of warm rains. They come rushing back to me.

2. Gangstas’ Paradise by Coolio
Good song, great movie.

3. Mouth by Merril Bainbridge
It was a fun and sexy song to sing. And we sang it, we did.

4. The World I Know by Collective Soul
I loved listening to this song when I was feeling melodramatic. Hey, I was a teenage girl!

5. 1979 by Smashing Pumpkins
Loved it then, still love it now. It never gets old!

6. One Sweet Day by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men
This song made me cry buckets. Such a beautiful and sad song.

7. Twisted by Keith Sweat
So hawt, and still one of the best R&B songs out there.

8. Name by Goo Goo Dolls
The guitar intro still gives me goosebumps when I hear it.

9. Insensitive by Jann Arden
(Sigh… *pause* More sighs…. *puts hand on heart* Sighs some more.)

10. Only Wanna Be With You by Hootie and the Blowfish
I still love this song as much as I did before. It always cheers me up.
